Through my role as an Early Childhood and Primary School Teacher for the past fifteen years, I have witnessed firsthand the debilitating impact of trauma on children. I have a particular interest in providing intervention to children with Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Anxiety and Oppositional Behavioural Disorders.
Through clinical work as a Dyslexia Practitioner, I have assisted numerous children with a formal diagnosis by providing literacy intervention. In this role, I focused intensely on supporting the emotional needs of children including fostering increased self confidence and assisting children with anxiety and stress reduction. Direct involvement with the local Aboriginal community over the past 18 years has created a strong awareness of emotional challenges experienced by Aboriginal people. I am passionate about reducing the impact of Intergenerational Trauma. I have also seen firsthand the impact of adults living with a mental illness on the attachment with their children.
Applying the core values of Interplay Therapy through working with parents and their children to heal relationships through the unconscious and unspoken experiences has the capacity to have a profound impact on the lives of all children, their families and future generations. This has led me to work in clinical practice as an Interplay Therapist.
